Toilet repair, replacement and fitting
A cistern that runs continuously is the most expensive small fault in a flat: it adds tens of euros a month to the water bill and is usually cured by one valve.
- Price from
- 60 € per job
- Response time
- Routine work 24–48 hours, emergencies often the same day

What the job includes
- Replacing the cistern mechanism and fill valve
- Re-fixing the pan and renewing the seal
- Fitting new toilets, including wall-hung pans on concealed frames
- Removing and disposing of the old toilet
- Leak-testing the waste connection
How we do it
We start by working out whether the fault is the fill valve, the flush valve or the seal between pan and cistern — those three cover nearly every case. If the pan rocks, tightening the screws will not help: the floor seal has usually gone and the pan has to come up briefly. On a new fit we always check the fall on the waste connection.
Good to know
With a wall-hung pan on a concealed frame, ask whether there is an access panel. If there is not, one has to be made — without it the valve is unreachable and every future repair means breaking tiles.
Frequently asked questions
Repair or replace?
If the pan itself is sound and under ten years old, repair — the mechanism costs a fraction of a new toilet. We do not patch cracked porcelain.
Can you fit a wall-hung toilet?
Yes, frame included. That is half a day's work and usually needs tiling too, so we do it as part of a bathroom job.
Guides and advice
A sewage smell in the flat: where it usually comes from
A sewage smell without a blocked drain almost always points to a dry trap, a failed toilet seal, or a vent stack fault.
What to do if your water meter's seal is broken or missing
A broken water meter seal is not a fine waiting to happen, but it does need reporting and resealing properly.
Do you need a sewage lift pump for a basement bathroom?
Whether a basement bathroom needs a lift pump comes down to one measurement: the fall between your new outlet and the sewer.
