Flooring: laminate, vinyl and parquet
A new floor is quick work when the subfloor is right. Most problems — creaking, gaps, planks that move — come from a subfloor that was never levelled.
- Price from
- 15 € per job
- Response time
- Routine work 24–48 hours, emergencies often the same day

What the job includes
- Lifting the old covering and taking it away
- Checking and levelling the subfloor
- Underlay and a vapour barrier where needed
- Laying laminate, vinyl or parquet
- Skirting boards, thresholds and corners
How we do it
We measure the subfloor deviation with a two-metre straightedge: more than 3 mm over two metres means levelling. The material has to acclimatise in the room for at least 48 hours before laying — that is a manufacturer's warranty condition, not a suggestion. We always leave an expansion gap at the wall, even where the skirting would hide the lack of one.
Good to know
Ordinary laminate does not belong in a bathroom or kitchen, 'moisture resistant' included. There we recommend vinyl plank or tile — otherwise the edges curl within a year.
Frequently asked questions
Can it go over the old floor?
Often yes, if the old covering is firmly down and flat. Never over carpet or a soft underlay.
How long does a 40 m² flat take?
Usually two days: levelling and preparation on the first, laying and skirting on the second.
Guides and advice
Does replacing a flat's flooring need a building notice or permit?
Most flooring jobs need nothing more than a word to the apartment association, but a few cross into permit territory.

Cork flooring versus vinyl: what the difference actually is
