Fence and gate repair and installation
The main enemy of an Estonian fence is not wind but frost heave: the post moves a couple of millimetres every winter, and five years later the fence leans.

- 45 €/h
- Response time
- Routine work 24–48 hours, emergencies often the same day

What the job includes
- Replacing sunken and rotted posts
- Replacing broken boards and panels
- Adjusting gates and hinges
- Installing new timber, mesh or panel fencing
- Painting and treating the fence
How we do it
New posts go below the frost line — in Estonia that means at least 80 cm, preferably on gravel with a concrete collar rather than simply cast into concrete. The bottom of a timber post is treated before it goes in, because that is exactly where it rots.
Good to know
Before a new fence goes up it is worth checking the boundary: a fence built on the line with a neighbour needs their agreement. We help measure, but establishing the boundary is a surveyor's job.
Frequently asked questions
Can it be done in winter?
Setting posts into frozen ground is not sensible. Board and gate repairs we do all year round.
Do you take the old fence away?
Yes, by arrangement. Plain timber is cheap to dispose of; treated timber and concrete posts carry a separate charge.
Guides and advice
Setting fence posts: how sand, clay and gravel change the job
Sand, clay and gravel each demand a different post depth and drainage approach — get it wrong and the fence moves within a year or two.
Building a metal gate yourself or having a locksmith make one
A practical look at what it takes to weld a garden gate yourself, and when paying for a made-to-measure one is the sounder choice.
The best time of year to repair a fence in Estonia
Frost, wet ground and cold slow down concrete and paint alike, so a fence job often comes down to picking the right month.
